About Budget Blueprint

I help first-time homebuyers on PEI get ready to buy, on purpose instead of by luck.

Patrick, founder of Budget Blueprint

Hi, I’m Patrick

I live in Stratford, PEI, with my fiancée. By day, I work in IT, which mostly means I turn things off and on for a living.

I grew up in Dorchester, Ontario, and earned a diploma in business marketing before realizing that neither marketing nor my hometown was the right fit for me. So in 2022, my fiancée and I moved to PEI for a fresh start and a new career, and for the first time, we were fully on our own.

That move is what turned me into a budgeting addict. I’ve tracked every single purchase I’ve made since then, down to the penny. Now I help first-time homebuyers on PEI get ready to buy, on purpose instead of by luck.

Why I do this

My fiancée and I purchased our first home in PEI when we were 24 years old. No family money, no co-signer, no inheritance.

My fiancée had been saving for six years before we moved in together. We were living at home with no rent and no debt, which is the only reason we could put away $2,000 a month. We picked that number, paid it to ourselves for two years, and by the time we sat down with a mortgage broker we already knew what the payments felt like.

Here’s the part that matters. Even with all of that going for us, it still took two years and a real plan. Most people I talk to are paying rent and a car payment at the same time, and they’ve been told the answer is to spend less on takeout. It isn’t. The money comes from a small number of structural decisions, and from paying down the debt that’s quietly eating your borrowing power.

That’s what I help you find.
