Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Budget Blueprint (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a sole proprietor personal budgeting consultancy operated by Patrick, registered in Prince Edward Island, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website or engage our services.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following types of personal information:

  • Contact information (name, email address) provided when booking a consultation or submitting an intake form
  • Financial information you voluntarily share during consultations, including income details, expenses, debts, and financial goals
  • Booking and scheduling data collected through our booking platform
  • Intake form responses submitted prior to your consultation
  • Website usage data collected automatically via Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics, including pages visited, time on site, browser type, and approximate geographic location (see section 5)
  • Your approximate location (country and region), detected automatically by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and used only to decide whether analytics cookies are on or off by default when you arrive (see section 5). This detection happens for each visit and is not stored or logged against you.

3. How we use your information

Your information is used solely to:

  • Schedule and conduct your budgeting consultation
  • Prepare personalized budgeting guidance and materials
  • Communicate with you regarding your session or follow-up questions
  • Process payment for services rendered
  • Understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it
  • Comply with applicable Canadian tax and business reporting obligations

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial information with any third party for marketing purposes.

4. Third-party services

To operate our services, we use the following third-party platforms, each of which may process your data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

  • Cal.com — appointment booking and scheduling
  • Tally — intake form collection
  • Stripe — payment processing (we do not store your payment card details)
  • Microsoft Teams — video consultation sessions (part of Microsoft 365)
  • Microsoft 365 — document preparation and email communication
  • Google Analytics — website traffic and usage analytics (see section 5)
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics — website traffic and usage analytics (see section 5)
  • Cloudflare — website hosting, and approximate location detection used to set your cookie preference default (see section 5)

5. Analytics, cookies, and location-based consent

We use two analytics services, which handle your information very differently.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookie-less: it does not use cookies, does not store any data on your device, and does not track you individually. It only gives us aggregate, anonymous counts, like how many people visited a page. Because it cannot identify you, it runs for every visitor and there is nothing to opt out of.

Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC, collects information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URLs using cookies — small text files stored on your device. Because this does use cookies, it only runs with your consent.

Whether Google Analytics is on by default when you arrive depends on your general location, which our hosting provider, Cloudflare, detects automatically from your connection for each visit (this detection is not stored or logged against you):

  • If you are browsing from Canada, outside Quebec, Google Analytics is on by default and no cookie banner is shown, since PIPEDA (Canada’s federal privacy law) permits this.
  • If you are browsing from Quebec or anywhere outside Canada, Google Analytics is off by default and a cookie banner is shown, since Quebec’s Law 25 and similar laws elsewhere (such as the EU/UK) require your active opt-in before analytics cookies are set.

Whichever region you are in, you can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in our website footer, which lets you accept or decline Google Analytics cookies. Your choice is remembered on your device and always overrides the regional default. You can also opt out of Google Analytics specifically by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your browser’s cookie settings. 6. Data retention

We retain your personal and financial information only as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfil our obligations under Canadian tax law (generally seven years for financial records). After this period, your data is securely deleted. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google’s own retention settings, which we have configured to the minimum available period. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not collect personal data, so there is nothing tied to you to retain.

7. Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. Financial documents and session notes are stored securely and are accessible only to us. However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information held by us. To exercise these rights, please contact us at the address below.
